Memorial Day

On this Memorial Day I hope that you are able to spend time with family and friends. I hope that you eat lots of yummy foods (anyone having a pitch-in? My co-workers make fun of me because they call them pot lucks and no one had ever heard the term pitch-in). But most importantly, I hope that you spend a little bit of time today thanking a veteran, and remembering those who have and who continue to give their all in service of our country. Thank you veterans (and veterans' families!).

Um, I call them potlucks, too. Where the heck did you come up with pitch-in???

You got it right. Veterans Day is a holiday to remember and honor America's veterans; that is, the ones who came home. Memorial Day is to remember the ones who didn't.

PS-I call them pitch-ins too. They are weird, not us.

I've used Pitch-in here in Indy, but Pot Luck in Chicago. I think Pitch-In makes so much more sense!

The house looks great! Ahh, to have the energy...and a garden too! We always called them pitch-ins, but all the cookbooks were for pot lucks. Maybe a Hoosier thing?
