So I've been entering a few (okay a lot) of Bloggy Give-aways this evening over at Don't Try This at Home and I started to feel guilty because I was not offering anything here... so I thought I'd rectify that.
I'm generally a crafty person but with school and the holidays and everything going on I honestly don't know when or what I would have time to make. But I do love Christmas! So... I thought I would put together a Christmas surprise basket. It may contain an ornament or two, some music, some recipes, and maybe something hand crafted if I have time... and if you have something else you would really like to see in the basket put that in your comment and you never know! It might show up in there too (thinking teas, hot chocolates... Starbucks? Who knows! Don't you love surprises?).
So, here is what you need to do:
1. Leave a comment below with a way for me to contact you and one of your favorite physical things about Christmas (the cookies, the candles at church, etc).
2. Go check out the other give-aways! There are lots!
3. Come back and check in with me from time-to-time if you have interest in theatre, home projects, craft projects, living in Colorado, or anything else Jenna related.

My favorite physical part of Christmas is going Christmas Light sight-seeing around the various neighborhoods. Touring by car to see Denver's Capitol Lights was a tradition drive every year. I'll never forget. I always find someone to buy a postcard of the lights and send it to me. (Hint Hint)

the ornaments. I love looking at our old ones and shining them up, or going through stores and finding new ones. Sparkley ones always distract me while lit ones make me forget everything else. Old timey ones--glass balls and such--make me sigh with happiness.

I am so partial to the smells of pine, crisp air and cinnamon that I often have soap and candles with the scents year round - lol! Wow. This giveaway is right up my alley. I absolutely adore Christmas. It's my favorite time of year and even now, in October, I'm already in the holiday spirit (much to the annoyance of my coworkers). I can't help it...I just love everything about the holidays Everyone is so happy and cheerful; it's a wonderful time of year.
It's hard to pick just one favorite physical thing. It's a toss up between our family Christmas tree...which we still put up and decorate as a family every single year..and our traditional family Christmas cookie. We are part Norwegian and it's a tradition to make Sanbakkles together. It started with my Grand Grandma and now we have them every single Christmas. They are so buttery and delicious...the perfect Christmas cookie.

A couple of years ago we turned our tree into a more personable Christmas decoration. Rather than having random ornaments or a necessary theme we decided to purchase, make, select ornaments that defined who we really are. Every ornament on our tree, regardless of how it was acquired, says something about one or all of us. It has been beautiful the past two years and we don't expect this year to be any different.
I love our tree ornaments. Each year we all get a new one that represents us best. I love unpacking my kids ornaments and seeing how their tastes have changed over the years.
I love during midnight mass the candles lit and how beautiful it looks. Of course since the kids have been born I haven't taken them to it (too cold too late). Maybe this year.
I love the Christmas lights on homes and businesses. They seem so magical, calming, peaceful.

My favorite part of christmas was always setting up the Nativity scene. Mom had a cardboard one that I tried to make "new" figures for (eeek, no comparison) and it was always MY task. We have a lovely ceramic set from Aunt Estee that was a wedding gift and is put away until it's not in so much danger, but Mom and Dad got the boys the FISHER-PRICE Nativity set last year so we can PLAY with it!

i love Hot white chocolate. and I love those weird soft mint candies that have christmas trees in the middle of them. they have red around the outside and a green tree int eh middle. my Grandma buys them every year. you can tell they are just one big roll and then cut and cut and cut and wrapped but they are so good.

I love my Christmas Tree Ornaments. My mother began giving us one ornament a year (all three of us girls got the same ornament just a different character or symbol.) After I graduated from High School i was presented with my ornaments. They have been my cherished pieces ever since.

I used to love hunting up our Christmas tree someplace up in the mountains (in WA it only costs $5 for a tree permit!) but now we go to a tree farm. Christmas trees and their perfect outdoorsy smell are my favourite physical thing about Christmas.
We livein Pittsburgh and every year take our 4 boys to the Steel Bldg to see the life size creche.It is from Italy and is breathtaking.And we usually pick a cold day with flurries so we can sip coffee and hot chocolate.And enjoy the Christmas music.We try to keep the holidays simple.Lots of seeing,touching,smelling.They remember those things so much more than the toys.
